Safety, Injury Advisory, and Liability Waiver
Grandmaster Tony “Moy Wu” Watts and the TWCJR Academy are committed to providing authentic, disciplined, and safe martial arts training. Martial arts is a journey of strength, focus, and self-mastery, but like all physical disciplines, it carries risks.
Training may involve concussions and head trauma, sprains and strains, fractures and broken bones, bruising and muscle soreness, cuts and abrasions, as well as emotional and mental stress. These are normal risks that come with physical activity, contact training, and conditioning.
At TWCJR, safety practices are emphasized at all times. Students are expected to warm up and stretch properly, wear protective gear when required, train with control and focus on technique rather than brute strength, and communicate with instructors if experiencing pain, dizziness, or fatigue. All students are expected to follow instructor guidance, hydrate and rest appropriately, tap out early in grappling or joint-lock drills, and respect their own physical limits.
TWCJR instructors are trained to prioritize safety, classes are structured to minimize unnecessary risks, and students are reminded that martial arts is for self-defense, growth, and discipline—not reckless aggression. Martial arts training is not risk-free. By training at TWCJR, you acknowledge these risks and commit to practicing with responsibility, respect, and discipline. Your safety, and the safety of your training partners, depends on your awareness and actions.
I acknowledge that martial arts training, fitness conditioning, and related activities at TWCJR involve physical contact, strenuous exercise, and inherent risks of injury. These risks include, but are not limited to, bruises, sprains, broken bones, concussions, and other serious injuries. I understand that participation is voluntary and that I assume full responsibility for any injuries or damages that may occur.
I certify that I am physically fit to participate in martial arts training and have no medical conditions that would prevent me from safely engaging in such activities. I agree to inform TWCJR staff of any health conditions, injuries, or limitations that may affect my participation.
In consideration of being allowed to participate at TWCJR, I release, discharge, and hold harmless Total Wing Chun Jujitsu Ryu, Grandmaster Tony “Moy Wu” Watts, all instructors, assistants, members, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising from my participation in training, use of facilities, or related events, including claims of negligence to the fullest extent permitted by law.
I agree to follow all safety rules, instructions, and codes of conduct established by TWCJR. I understand that martial arts training is not a game, and I accept personal responsibility for my actions during training.
I also grant permission for TWCJR to use photos, videos, or recordings of me for promotional or educational purposes unless I explicitly decline in writing.
By agreeing to this waiver, I confirm that I have read and fully understand its terms. I acknowledge that I am voluntarily giving up certain legal rights, including the right to sue, and that I do so freely and willingly.
